FAQs
Tesla Powershare Systems — Frequently Asked Questions
What is Tesla Powershare and which vehicles support it?
Powershare is Tesla's vehicle-to-home technology: your vehicle's battery powers your house during an outage. It's currently available on the Cybertruck, which can deliver up to 11.5 kW — enough to run a typical home's essentials and then some. With the Cybertruck's large battery pack, that can mean days of backup power.
What equipment do I need for Powershare?
A Powershare-compatible Tesla Wall Connector, a Tesla Gateway (which safely disconnects your home from the grid during an outage), and a properly rated electrical panel. We assess your panel capacity during the free site visit and handle the full installation, permitting, and commissioning.
Is Powershare a substitute for a Powerwall?
They solve the same problem differently. A Powerwall is always home and always charged; Powershare uses the battery you already bought with your truck. Many homeowners start with Powershare and add a Powerwall later for layered backup. We'll walk you through the trade-offs at your consultation — no pressure either way.
